Taken from atop the DoubleTree by Hilton near the Central Station, Amsterdam, this one came out really nice. I actually have a 60 by 40 aluminized print of this one hanging in my living room.
The weather in general was not very bright, but the morning sun was shining very well on the little Black Forest village of Schonach, Germany. This beautiful, quiet little village in the Black Forest was our home for a few days earlier this year.

Officially the church was called St. Nicholas inside the Walls, i.e. the oldest part of the Amsterdam defence works. The basilica has a collection of religious murals.
In the 125th year of its existence, St Nicholas’ Church elevated to “basilica minor” or basilica. That happened on 8 December 2012.

This HDR was created today, but the original shots were made on a cold, dark night around Christmas of 2008.
