I have been doing one thing really wrong in Lightroom. I made it a habit to create a enw catalog for each calendar month. So I am currently adding my photos to the August2009 catalog. The good thing about this is that the Catalog does not grow out of propotion. After all, I don;t shoot everyday so the catalogs remain under 10 MB. The downside is that I cannot run a search across all my photos. This prompted me to merge all my catalogs. I learnt a few lessons in the way too.
So in the last week, all I have done (apart from working full time and fixing my website) is to collate my catalogs. I now have one catalog for all 2009 photos. I plan to export my portfolio photos out as a separate catalog so that they are separated from my other work (see gallery Other Endeavours in the Portfolio section).
